Dear Parents/Guardians,
During the suspension of classes at Maples Collegiate, Physical Education students are asked to continue to be active. Please use the attached log sheet (found in the RESOURCES tab) to record time spent doing any form of exercise that is possible at home during this time. Some examples would be going for a walk or run, playing outside, body weight exercises (like push-ups and sit-ups), using an exercise bike or treadmill if available. If your child is at a loss for things to do, there are many types of fitness programs online that may be suitable. We are asking that your child do a total of three (3) hours of exercise per week of school class suspension. If you have chosen to keep your child home while school is still in session, please add one hour for every PE class that they have been kept at home.
GRADE 11 & 12 Students are required to complete and log a total of 80 hours (minimum of 55 hours in moderate-vigorous intensities).
If you need further explanation or have any questions, please contact your child's PE teacher by email. Thank you for your understanding.
Take care,
Maples Physical Education Department
